Denison City Hall has received questions from persons concerned about COVID-19 exposure in City facilities. We had a small group of people using a meeting room at the library this week, and we have been informed that one of them tested positive for COVID-19 late this week. The group of people were not Denison residents and were confined in a private meeting room. One member of the group we spoke to stated, that as far as he knew, no one from the group visited any other establishment in DENISON.
We have contacted Iowa Department of Public Health and based on the criteria they use to determine whether citizens are considered to have had contact with COVID-19, they have determined that our employees and citizens are not considered to have been exposed to COVID-19.
The Iowa Department of Public Health is not recommending that Denison residents take any additional actions beyond what is recommended for all Iowans. However, as an additional precaution the library has hired a professional cleaning service to completely clean and disinfect the meeting room, and that space will not be used until that is completed. Please remember to follow the recommended guidelines to cover your cough, clean your hands, and contain germs by staying home when sick.
