Rental Assistance Available

From Tami Johannsen, Director at Region XII Regional Housing Authority:

I want to take the opportunity to explain our rental assistance program called the Housing Choice Voucher or Section 8 Federal Housing Program. Many know the program as “HUD.” Our mission at Region XII Regional Housing Authority is to provide low-income, very low-income and extremely low-income families access to affordable, safe, decent and sanitary housing and promote personal, economic, and social upward mobility with opportunities to transition from subsidized to non-subsidized housing. With that, our office is asking you to please share the following:

We have EXTRA VOUCHERS available and the WAITING LIST is SHORT! Help us spread the word to people you know, such as current tenants, family, friends or neighbors, who could use extra help with their rent. Those that have jobs or another source of income may still be eligible for assistance. Let us help by paying a portion of the rent so they have extra for utilities, basic necessities, medicine, school, etc. Those interested people should call us at 712-792-5560 for more information.

Besides extra vouchers, some of our communities struggle with having suitable housing for tenants. Do your family or friends own property that they would consider receiving rental assistance for? Maybe they have a really good renter who could use the extra help but have never worked with us? We are always welcoming new landlords! More information can be found on our website: www.regionxiiha.org under Landlords or contact us directly.
